The Polish National Alliance Education Department is very proud to be able to offer this benefit to our PNA College bound members.
This year, the Polish National Alliance Educational Department received 272 applications. The Committee consisting of three members perused the applications. Six applications were automatically denied for lack of Official Transcripts. Prior to the committee's meeting, memos were sent to all those that did not send in an Official Transcript, providing them a reminder, as a fraternal gesture on our part. Therefore, 266 applications were qualified for review. Each application is reviewed based on a point system; GPA, Membership, Student PNA Activities, Community Service, Family PNA Membership and Activity, as well as studies of the Polish/Slavic languages. After the points were tallied, applicants had points as high as 111 to a low of 32.
After all was said and done the Committee felt a higher amount of scholarship funds should be awarded, because the cost of education is higher. Scholarships were awarded to students with points ranging between 111 and 56 points. Scholarship amounts ranged from $500.00 to $2,500.00. All others were denied because of low GPA scores, incomplete applications, lack of an Official Transcript or simply were not in the range listed.
Letters to all recipients were sent at the end of May. A list of recipients can be viewed in a PDF file available for download at the link provided below.
The Polish National Alliance is very proud that so many members aspire towards higher education. We wish each recipient and applicant best wishes and continued success in all their future endeavors.
Applications for 2019/2020 will be available on the PNA website after January 1, 2019.
