GEORGE
SOBIERAJ HONORED BY OHIO CHAPTER
OF THE KOSCIUSZKO FOUNDATION
Cleveland, Ohio - It was with great pleasure
the PNA Commissioners of District 17, Jane Ptak and Mark
Relovsky along with National Director Allan Szuflada attended
the Kosciuszko Foundation Awards Banquet honoring George
Sobieraj. George Sobieraj's biography provided in the banquet
program details a lifetime of achievement in business ventures,
civic activities and the Polish Community. The many businesses
and organizations receiving benefit of his expertise are
enriched by his guidelines.
The evening started out with opening remarks
by Julian Boryczewski, Masters of Ceremonies and Mary Kay Pieski,
President of the Ohio Chapter of the Kosciuszko Foundation. A
delicious dinner prepared by the cooks at the Polish American
Cultural Center on Lansing Avenue in Cleveland followed and was
enjoyed by all. After dinner, Thad Cooke, himself a driving
force in the Polish Community, introduced George as a tireless
worker and someone who shuns recognition for his good works. The
presentation of the award was made by Mary Kay Pieski. George
Sobieraj thanked everyone and all the organizations which sent
representatives. George was humble in his remarks concerning his
activities.
The evening continued with the presentation
of awards and scholarships to deserving students in the Ohio
Chapter of the Kosciuszko Foundation. A powerpoint slide show
and remarks were given by Dr. Teresa Wojcik, Preisdent of the
Philadelphia Chapter of the Koscziuszko Foundation. The
educational work being done in Poland by the Kosciuszko
Foundation is truly impressive and the Union of Poles Division
of the PNA is proud to lend its support to such worthwhile
endeavors.
To demonstrate the importance of the honor of
George Sobieraj, General Thaddeus Kosciuszko made an appearance
and presented a brief account of his exploits before, during and
after the American Revolution. Actually, the role of General
Kosciuszko was acted brilliantly by Richard Klimek who has been
portraying the Generak since 1985. His lecture was interesting
and ended up with many attendees dancing the Polonaise.
All of us the Union of Poles Division of the
PNA wish to congratulate George Sobieraj. We have all benefited
from his experience and generosity and a simple thank you could
never be enough to recognize all he has done for us.
Sto Lat George!
