PNA
REPRESENTED AT ANNUAL POLISH-AMERICAN
NIGHT AT COMERICA PARK
Detroit, Michigan - The 41st Annual Polish
American Night at Comerica Park was held recently on a misty
Friday evening.
Many Detroit Tigers fans were greeted by
local Polish Dance Groups performing as they entered the park.
Even the Tigers Team Mascot, Paws was dressed in a Polish
costume.
Prior to the start of the game, many
dignitaries were introduced from a variety of local Polish
Fraternal Organizations who were on the playing field. They met
the Tigers manager Jim Leyland. Introduced on the field were PNA
Vice President Paul C. Odrobina, Stella Szczesny, President of
Council 122 PNA, Polish Roman Catholic Union President Joseph A.
Drobot Jr., PRCUA Vice President Bob Bielanda, PRCUA Chaplain
Walter Ptak, Mayor of Hamtramck, Michigan Karen Majewski,
Michigan Division Polish American Congress President Mariusz
Szajnert, FP President Carol Surma, and National Polish American
Sports Hall of Fame Inductee Art "Pinky" Deras.
Vice President Odrobina spoke with Jim
Leyland and learned that he was from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
and is familiar with the PNA through his neighbor Dana DiPaolo
and the members of Lodge 1052 West End Pulaski Lodge.
The result of the game was not good news for
the local fans, where the Boston Red Sox defeated the Detroit
Tigers with a score of 6 to 3.
The Chicago Polish American Night will be
held at the U. S. Cellular Field on Tuesday, July 26, 2011,
where the Chicago White Sox will host the Detroit Tigers.
Tickets are still available through Vice President Odrobina's
office. For ticket availability call Mr. Odrobina's office at
