RESULTS OF THE 2008 PNA
NATIONAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

Coventry, Rhode Island - The Annual PNA National Softball Tournament was held on the weekend of July 18 - 20, 2008 in Coventry, Rhode Island. The weekend was very hot for a softball tournament that brought in men's teams from Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

On Friday evening, July 18th, a meeting was held with team managers, coaches and the tournament committee to conduct the drawing of the brackets, and reviewed the ASA Tournament rules. This meeting was held at the PNA Lodge 1001 Hall, located in Coventry, Rhode Island. PNA Vice President Paul C. Odrobina attended the meeting.

PNA Vice President Paul Odrobina welcomed and thanked the team members for attending this years tournament and extended well wishes from the entire Executive Board and Sports and Youth Committee. Mr. Odrobina also acknowledged the teams and their supporters for participating in Sports and Youth activities on local and national levels along with other sporting event programs sponsored by the PNA. He thanked Don Babiec who was the local coordinator for this years event.

On the opening day of competition, Vice President Odrobina was the designated first batter with Mr. Ray Babiec pitching to him. PNA Commissioner of District 1, Normand Vadnais was the catcher. Thus, this marked the start of the National Softball Tournament

McKeesport Lodge 352 was the top winners of the tournament. The second place champs was Lodge 750 of Glassport with Lodge 1001 Old Timers Team as the third place Winners. Plaques were presented to the winning teams at the awards ceremony on Sunday. PNA National Director Teresa Struziak Sherman, Commissioners of District 1 Normand Vadnais and Jeannie Zapala and Commissioner of District 8 Richard Tyszkiewicz attended the ceremony and assisted Vice President Odrobina to award the winners.  The Sportsmanship Award was presented to Lodge 352 in McKeesport. The MVP plaque was awarded to Shawn Krzaric of the McKeesport Lodge 352 team.
