LODGE 1001
CAPTURES SOFTBALL TITLE
Coventry, Rhode Island - Who said that after
losing three straight games that you would win the championship?
That's exactly what happened to Lodge 1001. They lost all the
games in the round robin style of play and were seated 4th.
Dionne's Raiders (Lodge 1001) #2 team seated
first after the round robin, gophers Lodge 1001 #3 was seated
2nd and West End Pulaski Lodge 1052 Pittsburgh was 3rd and Lodge
1001 Team #1 was fourth.
In the first game of the play-offs PNA #1
came back from behind and beat the Dionne's Team by a score of 9
- 2. The second game of the play-offs saw the Gopher's tangle
with West End Lodge 1052 and that was a seesaw battle all
the way as the Gophers won by a score of 10 - 9. In the
championship game, the Gopher's took on PNA 1001 #1 and the
Gopher's jumped out to a quick lead, but the PNA #1 team came
roaring back. When the dust finally settled, PNA 1001 #1 won by
a score of 21 - 12.
After a very good dinner which was a Texas
BBQ, Vice President Paul C. Odrobina said a few words, thanked
all the participants and encouraged them to go out and seek new
members.
Vice President Paul Odrobina and District I
Commissioner, Normand (Mickey) Vadnais passed out the plaques
and awards to all the teams. As we concluded the awards, it was

was a winner. Paul than thanked Lodge 1001 for hosting the
tournament this years tournament.
It's too bad that there were only 4 teams at
this years tournament, but fun was had by all.
Vice President Paul Odrobina threw out the
ceremonial first pitch with Commissioner Mickey Vadnais catching
and Lodge 1001 Vice President Kevin Leandro swinging at the bat.
Former Commissioner of District I John
