Teresa N. Abick

Term:
March - June, 2005

18th President of the Polish National Alliance

Chicago--Teresa N. Abick was installed as the 18th President of the Polish National Alliance (PNA) on March 31, 2005, upon the passing of President Edward J. Moskal. Upon taking the oath of office, Abick became the second female chief executive in the history of the PNA.

Abick was elected Vice-President of the PNA in 1991 and became responsible for the Cultural Educational, and Arts Department. She brought with her many years of experience and knowledge in politics and fraternalism.

Through her warm and caring attitude, Abick became a very sought after commodity in the political arena. She worked for many prominent political office holders, including Congressman John D. Dingell, Governor James Blanchard, Senator George Z. Hart and Representative Raymond Murphy.

Abick began her work in the PNA on a small scale in the early 1950s. She held every office a member can hold outside the home office, such as Commissioner of District X (1987-1991) in Detroit, President of Council 54 (since 1984). As Commissioner of District X, she was responsible for planning many new and educational programs. It was that commitment that ultimately brought her to Chicago.

She has represented the PNA as a trustee for the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center and helped raise a million dollars towards the building fund, for which she was personally recognized by Pope John Paul II in Rome. In addition, she chaired a Chicago Radiothon in cooperation with Jerzy Rozalski’s radio network and raised $82,000 in pledges destined for Orchard Lake Schools. She also served on the Board of the National Fraternal Congress.
