RESULTS OF
THE 2009 PNA PHOTO CONTEST
Chicago, Illinois - Starting in May through
August 1st, the 4th PNA photo contest took place. The theme
for this years contest was: "My
Polish Pride and Traditions".
When it reached the deadline, there were 71 entries submitted
from many talented amateur photographers. Vice President Paul C. Odrobina
said that he was happy to see that this years photo contest drew
in this many entries for the contest.
Photo entries were submitted by entrants
living in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois,
Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York,
North Dakota, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin
and West Virginia.
On August 11, 2009, Vice President Paul Odrobina
had the judging to select the winners. Judging the contest this
year was: Andrzej Baraniak, photographer for the Dziennik
Zwiazkowy, Brian Wolski, from Bronwal
Printing, and Gina Wolski, Brian's wife.
The 71 photographs were displayed in the PNA
meeting room. The judges looked over each photograph carefully,
checking for sharpness, clarity, the quality of the paper stock
used in the printing the pictures and making sure the subject
matter lived up to the theme of this years contest, "My
Polish Pride and Traditions". The decision of the winners
took quite a while during their difficult task, with judges
selecting the twelve best photographers.
The twelve winners were (alphabetically)
Jacob Alexander, Kayla Becker, Michelle Buhrmaster, Thaddeus
Chapa, Krista Durbano, Slawek Grudzinski, George Kurkowski,
Andrew Litavsky, Jessica Schanilec, Rod Schanilec, Jaryne Sands,
and Rodney Walczy.
Each of the winners will receive a
$100.00 U.S. Savings Bond and their winning photo entry will be
mounted on an "Award Winners Plaque".
Vice President Odrobina would like to thank
his In-House Committee for their hard work running the contest
each year namely Joan Oskorep and Robert Jadach, the judges for taking time away from their busy
schedule to come to the PNA to judge this years contest and all
the participants and winners who entered this years contest.
The contest will once again resume on June 1,
2010 through September 1, 2010. The theme for the contest will be
"Every Picture Tells A Story" Details will be posted on the PNA Website and listed in
upcoming issues of the Zgoda.
