RESULTS OF THE 2007 PNA PHOTO CONTEST

Chicago, Illinois - Starting in June through September 1st, the 2nd PNA photo contest took place. The theme for this years contest was: "Summer and Vacation Activities". When it reached the deadline, there were 112 entries submitted from many talented amateur photographers.

Photo entries were submitted by entrants living in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.

On September 29, 2007, Vice President Paul Odrobina had the judging to select the winners. Judging the contest this year was: Ms. Alicja Otap, journalist, reporter, Editor of the "Z Chicago i Illinois" section of the Dziennik Zwiazkowy, Brian Wolski, from Bronwal Printing, and Wojciech Wierzewski, Editor of the Zgoda.

The 112 photographs were displayed in the PNA Boardroom. The judges looked over each photograph carefully, checking for sharpness, clarity, the quality of the paper stock used in the printing the pictures and making sure the subject matter lived up to the theme of this years contest, "Summer and Vacation Activities". The decision of the winners took quite a while during their difficult task, with judges selecting the ten best photographers. Five Honorable Mentions were also selected for the fine work of the photographers.

The ten winners were B. J. Collins, Madison L. Borowicz, Thaddeus Chapa, William Godlewski, Sandra M. Jerzak, Wendy Gurka-Martin, Melanie Zimmerman, Kathryn Moczygemba, Casimer Ragus, and Wanda Juda. The five honorable mentions were: Jason Lukacsko, Karen Davis, Richard Watkajtus, Alison Mary Abbot, and Frank Piekut.

Each of the ten winners will receive a $100.00 U.S. Savings Bond and their winning photo entry will be mounted on an "Award Winners Plaque".

Vice President Odrobina would like to thank his In-House Committee for their hard work starting the contest last year, the judges for taking time away from their busy schedule to come to the PNA to judge this years contest and all the participants and winners who entered this years contest.

The contest will once again resume on June 1, 2008. Details will be posted on the PNA Website and listed in upcoming issues of the Zgoda.
