PASSES BAR EXAM AND
MILA VERDUGO MARRIES IN RHODE ISLAND
Riverside, Illinois - Mila Verdugo of Chicago
formerly of Riverside, Illinois, daughter
of Dr. Shirley Verdugo-Perez was married July 14, in Narraganett,
Rhode Island to Dr. Michael Mulhearn of South Kensington, Rhode
Island. The marriage vows were performed in a historic castle
setting with the reception at the Coast Guard House. It was a
global wedding with guest from Arizona, Oregon, Florida, New
York, Illinois, Michigan, Rhode Island, and as far away as
England, Switzerland, and Spain.
Mila attended the Illinois Math and Science
Academy in Aurora, Illinois, and Cornell University in New York
(major in Biology-Pre-Med). In her junior year at Cornell, she
was one of six students selected from Cornell to research Saki
Monkeys in the Amazon Jungles of Venezuela South America in the
summer of 1998. Upon retuning to Cornell she was selected to
discuss the groups findings with Dr. Jane Goodall, the visiting
lecturer at Cornell and the world renowned scientist and
researcher of monkeys. In her senior year, Mila was selected as
a
Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar to the University of
Sydney, Australia. She received her Master's Degree in Public
Health there and is currently an administrator at the West Side
Center for Disease Control. Dr. Mulhearn received his
bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his
Doctorate in Physics from The Massachusetts Institute of
Technology in Boston. He is currently employed at Fermi Lab as a
Post Doctoral Fellow in conjunction with Columbia University in
New York.
They honeymooned in Martha's Vineyard in Cape
Cod and are on a second honeymoon in Spain.
Jay Verdugo of Riverside, Illinois graduated
Cum Laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan
on September 23, 2007. He took the Bar and Ethics exams in
February and March 2008 and received his law license on May 8,
2008 at the Illinois Supreme Court in Springfield, Illinois by
Justice Rita Garman. Jay has a bachelor's and master's degree in
Engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where
he was a Scholar Power award recipient, Chairman of Professional
Development-Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Founding
Member of the Student Business Association in Kinesiology, and
Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. In Law School, he was the
the president of the Student Intellectual Property Law
Assocaition. Both in undergraduate, graduate and Law School he was on the Dean's List. He is current member of the Polish
Advocates Society, the Hispanic National Bar Association,
Chicago Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association, American Bar
Association, and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. He is a
lifetime member of the National Eagle Scout Association and a
proud member of Lodge 825 Cicero Society of the Polish National
Alliance.
