DISTRICT 16
SPELLING BEE RESULTS
Los Angeles, California - Eighth Grade
students, members of the local District 16 of the PNA competed
for a chance to attend the National Final of the PNA Spelling
Bee in Chicago. Council 73 President and National Director
Richard Kobzi hosted the students at the Pope John Paul II
Polish Center and he was assisted by Council 73 Vice President,
PNA Polish School Director and District 16 Lady Commissioner
Elizabeth Rudzinska. The top winners at the local competition
were: First Place Winner, Alexander Milligan of Lake Forrest
(Lodge 3259); Second Place Winner, Aneta Jelowicki of West
Covina (Lodge 700); Third Place Winner was Katherine Ratajczak
of Burbank (Lodge 700). Also participating was Alexandra Bilski
of Simi Valley (Lodge 700), and Natalie Kozlowski of Playa Del
Rey (Lodge 2644). Alexander will compete in the PNA National
Finals in Chicago on April 14, 2007. Alexander, Aneta and
Katherine received Savings Bonds from the Council 73 for
participating. Each contestant also received gift certificates
from Borders from their respective Lodges for participating.
Assisting in the contest was moderator/pronouncer
Carolyn Davis, a retired City Treasurer of the city of
Placentia. Judges were Regina Kobzi, former National PNA
Director and member of Lodge 3193, and Viola Turek, Director of
the Polonia Folk Dancers and member of Lodge 3259. PNA Council
73 Los Angeles continues to lead District 16 in Youth
Activities.
