PNA participates in
Legislative Briefing
Chicago,
Illinois - On Thursday, July 13, 2006, Vice President Paul Odrobina along with Robert Jadach from the PNA Public Relations
Dept. sat in on a Legislative Briefing held at the Northtown
Academy Library.
The meeting was
hosted by the Albany Park Community Center, Peterson Pulaski
Business and Industrial Council, Pulaski Elston Business
Association and the Sauganash Chamber of Commerce.
Janita Tucker
from the Peterson Pulaski Business and Industrial Council
welcomed the guests attending. There were representatives from
many businesses and residents from the area. Janita introduced
the Moderator Mr. Christian Farr, from WTTW Channel 11.
Christian introduced the panelist, State Senator Ira Silverstein
from the 8th Legislative District, State
Representative John D’Amico from the 15th House
District, Alderman Margaret Laurino of the 39th Ward
and District Director John Borovicka representing US
Representative Rahm Emanuel from the 5th
Congressional District. Introduced later in the program was
Carisol Duque from Senator Dick Durbin's Office.
Each of the
panelists spoke briefly about issues that was important to the
community and how they participated in the passing of bills. The
topics they spoke of included Identity Theft, Under Age Drivers
Restrictions, Creating a Wireless Access for computers
throughout the city and other accomplishments. Afterward Mr.
Farr chaired a lengthy question and answer period session where
important topics from the Community were brought to the
attention of the panelists, including Health Care Issues for
Small Businesses, the new immigration laws, and emergency
awareness for the city in case of evacuations. These were noted
by the panelists and hopefully looked into for further
resolutions with the Government in our State.
