PNA COUNCIL
122'S ANNUAL PICNIC
Hamtramck, Michigan - Every year, on the last
Sunday of July, the Polish National Alliance Council 122 hosts a
picnic for its members and friends at Wanda Park in Sterling
Heights, Michigan.
This year, Council Vice President Roman
Lopacki organized a wonderful day for all. With the help of his
wife, PNA Council 122 Vice President Janina Lopacki, who
organized the kitchen with all its wonderful meals, PNA Council
122 Director Zbigniew Przybyl who made sure the bar was well
stocked, and Club Manager Krystyna Chodorowska who organized the
games for the children, the day was filled with what Wanda Park
will be fondly remembered for. Of course these were not the only
people who made the day a success. Many other volunteers worked
tirelessly in the 90 plus degree heat to make sure everyone was
having a good time.
Several times during the day, new comers
reminisced how they had come to the park with their parents when
they were young, but had lost that connection as they grew up.
The PNA Council 122 Picnic brought many of the same feelings
they remembered. They all said that they will be coming back.
What made the picnic different from others
was the fact that they also included many things for the
children to do. Parents could enjoy the bar and dance music
knowing that their children were safely occupied. The children
were taunted by two pinatas, cooled off by a water slide, tossed
about in a bounce castle, they tried their skills at the water
balloon toss, hula-hoop contest and showed who was the strongest
with a tug o' war. Each child, winners and losers, all received
numerous prizes and loads of candy from the pinatas.
So, if you want to join in on the fun, mark
your calendar for next year's PNA Council 122 Picnic, on Sunday,
July 29, 2012, or come to Wanda Park on most Sunday's for good
food, music and liquid libations and revisit those memories.
