LODGE 1052
ANNUAL COMMUNION Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Inclement weather was deterrence to the attendance of the 46th Annual Easter Communion Breakfast of the West End Pulaski Society Lodge 1052 of the Mass on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in the Strip District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Mass was celebrated by Father Harry Nichols, who was introduced to the congregation with PNA National President Frank J. Spula, PNA National Director Joseph A. Kaminski, PNA Commissioners of District VIII Richard Tyszkiewicz and Irene Nickels and President of Lodge 1052, Val Pawlos. Father Nichols congratulated the members for attending the Mass under the wintry conditions and continuing the Lodge's tradition of the Easter Communion Breakfast. After Mass, the members and guests proceeded to the Lodge Building and enjoyed a delicious breakfast that was catered by Rockefeller's Catering and the sweet breads that were baked by member John Schubert. In conclusion of the breakfast, brief comments were made by Lodge President Val Pawlos, who spoke of the importance of supporting the youth in the endeavors to both the Lodge and to the community. PNA President Frank Spula spoke of the many benefits offered to all members of the PNA. After the comments by President Spula, Mr. Pawlos presented him a $1,000.00 check payable to the Polish American Congress Charitable Fund benefiting the orphans in Poland. The highlight of the breakfast was the presentation of the Raymond Twardy Scholarship Awards. This year, eleven students received a $500.00 check award towards their college expenses. President Val Pawlos and Lodge Secretary Jeffrey Twardy presented the awards to Jessica Brooks, Gina Colucci, Laura Crawford, Dominic DiPaulo, David Fossick, James Kaczorowski, Thomas Kaczorowski, Jessica Lascola, Nicholas Martini, Charles Yukevich, and Henry Yukevich. At the conclusion of the awards, each child attending received an Easter Gift that was donated by the Lodge 1052, Joseph Kaminski and Jeffrey Twardy. A special "Bog Zaplac" to all the members and their guests who made this a very rewarding and successful event. Submitted by: Lodge 1052 Scholarship Award Recipients
