COUNCIL 195 ANNUAL PICNIC

Florian, Minnesota - Members and guests of Lodges 3043 of Warsaw, North Dakota and 3060 of Florian, Minnesota gathered on Sunday, July 19th for the annual picnic at Florian Park in Nortwestern Minnesota. It was a warm, beautiful day for swimming and games. Many youth members participated in a variety of games and activities for prizes from the lodges, led by Commissioner of District 14, Sandra Schuster. Lodge 3043 members was awarded their annual scholarships. Recipients were Andrew Ebertowski of Grand Forks, North Dakota and Krisitina Schuster of Minto, North Dakota. The Commissioner spoke about council activities coming up before the end of 2009 and highlighted several events that have taken place since the beginning of the year. Membership was also discussed with emphasis given to acquiring new members and how we can keep these council activities ongoing for years to come.

A delicious pot luck meal was organized and served by Irene Kazmierczak and Linda Kuznia of the Florian Lodge and Council officers also sold chances of raffle items throughout the afternoon. A special surprise tribute was given to Irene Duray of Warsaw, who was celebrating her 80th birthday. Irene is very active in Lodge 3043 and attends all meetings, assists with special events, and lends a hand wherever needed with lodge and council activities. She was honored by Commissioner Sandra Schuster with a cake and ice cream, served to everyone as dessert, while "Happy Birthday" and "Sto Lat" were sung by all.
