HOME OFFICE HOLDS ANNUAL
FLAG DAY CEREMONY

Chicago, Illinois - The Polish National Alliance celebrated the traditional event of Flag Day on Thursday, June 14, 2007, in  honor of a symbol dear to our hearts and importance to our Nation - the Flag of the United States of America. The event was attended by PNA leaders and officers, the PNA Employees, community leaders and guest, which included Mark Dobrzycki, Trustee of Harwood Heights, PNA National Directors, Arthur Trybek, Anna Wierzbicki and Loretta Chabalowski, and PNA Commissioners Stanley Bogobowicz (District 13) and Joseph Samreta (District 15), former Directors Charles Komosa, Joseph Sikora and Marian Nowacki and Former Commissioner Anna Kokoszka (District 12).

The program began with a welcome from PNA Vice President Paul C. Odrobina. He recalled that today (June 14th) marked the 230th Anniversary of our National Symbol. He called upon PNA Employees Joseph Magielski, John Wanuch and Richard Piasecki to raise the American, Polish and PNA Logo Flags.

Vice President Teresa N. Abick recited the Pledge of Allegiance and led the congregation in singing the National Anthem. A moment of silence followed the playing of "Taps" as a tribute to the men and women who gave up their lives, so that we can enjoy our freedom.

Mr. Odrobina introduced Mark Dobrzycki, who spoke of the importance of Flag Day.

In his closing remarks, Vice President Odrobina recited a poem which he read in our Polish Newspaper (Dziennik Zwiazkowy) called "I Am Your Flag".  The poem was very touching and moving. He thanked those attending and those who help put this ceremony together including; the flag raisers Joseph Magielski, John Wantuch, and Richard Piaseckil; the kitchen crew Joan Oskorep, Anna Burszczyk, Krystyna Bialasiewicz, and Ewa Zawadowicz; the sound men Victor Modlinski and John Benedetti; program and pin distribution Grace Szelag; and the maintenance man Chester Iwan.

The program closed with the singing of "God Bless America". Everyone was invited to a small reception in the PNA cafeteria compliments from the PNA Executive Officers.
