AMERICAN DAY AT
GREAT AMERICA
Gurnee, Illinois - The third Annual Polish
American Day at Six Flags Great America was held on Saturday,
June 6, 2009. Polish National Alliance along with Polish Roman
Catholic Union, Polish Women's Alliance and Polish Falcons were
co sponsoring the event.
Chairing the events was Anna Sokolowski, Vice
President of the PRCUA. Anna along with the Vice Presidents of
the PNA (Paul C. Odrobina), PWA (Sharon Zago) and PFA (Robert
Gorny) have collaborated on many events throughout the summer.
Other events included, Polish American Heritage Night at White
Sox Park (Cellular Field), Polish Fraternal Bowling Tournament,
Fraternal Junior Bowling Tournament and later in the year Dozin'
With the Dino's at the Field Museum. These programs show how the
Polish Fraternal Organizations could work together and involve
the members for a day or evening of fraternalism.
During the day, the park was open to all to
enjoy the rides and attractions. Three Polish Dance Groups
performed for the patrons who attended the Park. Dance groups
who performed included WICI (PNA Dance Group), Lajkonik (PNA
Dance Group) and Wesoly Lud (PRCUA Dance Group).
