WOMEN'S DIVISIONS CELEBRATES
"THE YEAR 2008"

Chicago, Illinois - On Sunday, April 6, 2008, was a day to celebrate the 12 months of the entire year. You had to be there and see what it was all about.

The PNA Welfare Association together with the Women's Divisions of Districts 12 and 13 put on 2 events a year, one at the Christmas season and the other around Easter time. The proceeds from these two events provide Christmas cheer from the PNA'ers that are unable to participate at our meetings, fundraisers and events, as they did in the past. We must not forget them as they were the ones that promoted and supported these programs and now passed it on to us to continue and possibly enhance the events.

This event was enjoyed by all present. Each person was seated at a specifically decorated table setting, such as the month of January, celebrates News Year's Day with horns, whistles, etc.; February, Valentine's Day with hearts; March, Easter various goodies; April, with flowers; May, Mother's Day; June, Father's Day; July with a happy 4th to celebrate; August, vacation at the beach; September, Harvest time; October, naturally Halloween; November, Thanksgiving with miniature turkeys and trimmings; the last December, the theme of course Christmas.

The Commissioners Barbara Wesolowski (District 12) and Irene Hercik (District 13) chaired the event by providing gifts for 12 brown bags, one for each 2008 month thus keeping up with the theme "celebrate the year 2008".

Welcoming the guests was Commissioner Irene Hercik; remarks were made by PNA Vice Presudent Teresa N. Abick, who is also President of the PNA Welfare Association. The program of songs and dances were performed by the Polish Language School Dance Group "Gaik" all the way from Wheeling, Illinois, under the direction of choreographer, Mrs. Anna Strojny. The artistic program was enjoyed by all for the theme was relating to Easter, Dyngus Day and Springtime. An excellent performance.

Commissioner Barbara Wesolowski rendered a beautiful prayer before the meal provided by the Stardust Banquets personnel.

The fundraiser raffle was something new to our participants and were excited and amazed by all the gifts the lucky winners received. Besides the "brown bag" raffle, a cash raffle was enjoyed by all the winners.

During the desert and coffee, Commissioner Barbara Wesolowski introduced the guests in attendance. Attending were Vice President Paul C. Odrobina with this wife Janice, National Secretary Charles A. Komosa with his wife Agata, PNA Directors, Arthur Trybek, Anna Wierzbicki, Christine Domalewski and Cecilia Tomaszkiewicz, the men Commissioners, Roman Bucon (District 12) and Zenon Olejniczak (District 13), former Directors Helen Orawiec and Loretta Chabalowski, past Commissioners of Districts 12 and 13 Joseph Calka, Kazimiera Pytel-Nowak, and Stanley Bogobowicz, Mr. Spula's Secretary Bozena Sztukowski and Alliance Printers and Publisher manager Emily Leszczynski. Also a special thanks went to Mrs. Abick's staff Mary Srodon and Wanda Penar for a job well done.

Commissioner Irene Hercik extended a grateful thank you to all participants and the "Gaik" Dance Group for enhancing our afternoon.

We all departed for home to enjoy the rest of the sun filled day.
