PNA 18TH
NATIONAL SPELLING BEE
Chicago, Illinois - On Saturday, April 9,
2011, the finals of the 18th Polish National Alliance Spelling
Bee came to an exciting conclusion. Ten finalists from around
the country competed in the National finals held at the Crowne
Plaza O'Hare Hotel. sponsored by the PNA Educational Department.
By winning in their respective Districts, the
Contestants received a trip to Chicago to take part in the
National Spelling Bee/ During the day before the Bee, they had a
chance to enjoy a sightseeing trip of Chicago, guided by
Agnieszka and Glen Przeslicke, both High School History
Teachers. The contestants remarked on the educational and
informative tour they had.
Welcoming out PNA Youth to this 18th Annual
Spelling Bee was Vice President Teresa N. Abick, who introduced Agnieszka Przeslicke, a local High School teacher in the Chicago
Public School district as the Pronouncer.

After twelve rounds of competition the
winners were as follows: 1st Place - Pawel Gertych of District
16, 2nd Place - Jakub Mazurek of District 13, and 3rd Place -
Katherine Bartuska of District 7.
We at the PNA are proud and honored to be
associated with all these fine young people, in our eyes they
are all winners and may their future endeavors all be filled
with good luck and good health.
To properly sponsor and make an event of this
type possible, it takes a wonderful and dedicated staff, and so
at this time we would like to acknowledge the Educational
Committee members, Directors Teresa Buckoski, Christine
Domalewski, National Secretary Charles A. Komosa, Directors
Barbara Martin, Tersesa Sherman and chairperson Vice President
Teresa Abick.
A special thank you to the pronouncer
Agnieszka Przeslicke, Teacher Chicago Public Schools. Judges
were Christine Tarchala, Secretary of Lodge 699, Harriet Gut,
Member of PNA Lodge 1474 PNA and Margaret Sas, Treasurer of
Lodge 669 PNA. Timekeeper was Wanda Juda from the Polish Daily
Newspaper.
To all the participants from throughout the
country and the working staff, we extend our grateful thanks and
congratulations, on a job well done.
For these events to be successful, we need
your help and expertise in the Districts to promote the PNA and
the programs that are truly beneficial to our youth.
