NEWS FROM DISTRICT 15 PNA

Rolling Prarie, Indiana - The District 15 Spelling Bee contest was held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Lodge 1120 Hall in LaPorte at 1:00 p.m. The winner of the Spelling Bee contest is Miss Alyssia Elbaor of Valparaiso, Indiana, a member of Lodge 3095 and Council 49. She will be represent District 15 at the National Spelling Bee contest on April 9, 2011 in Chicago. Mr. Nancy Teller of Lodge 3134 was the pronouncer along with judges, Mrs. Jeni Filip and Mr. Dennis Wozniak of Lodge 1120.

Alyssia is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Alex Elbaor of Valparaiso, Indiana and an 8th grade student at Washington Township School. She received a certificate of congratulations from Commissioners of District XV George Gustas and Mary Wozniak. Also attending to congratulate her were Mrs. Kaswera Moneta President of Lodge 3095 and Ms. Janina Modrzejewski, financial Secretary of Ldoge 3095. Everyone congratulated her and wished her well at the National Spelling Bee.

Miss Emily Lis, winner of the 2009 Spelling Bee was on hand and was invited to receive her winners certificate from the District XV Cookie contest which she was the winner. Chairman Jeni Filip waited to give her the winners certificates until the Commissioners would both be on hand for the presentation. The day of the Cookie contest, a winter storm hit the Western Indiana area, the LaPorte area was fine and Mrs. Filip did not want to cancel the contest, but in spite of the weather, Miss Lis made the journey in the winter storm. Winter is a very hard time to schedule dates for events.

The District XV Convention is scheduled for June 25, 2011 at Terre Coupe, Indiana Lodge 3078 at the Little PNA building in Terre Coupe.

NOTICE TO ALL DISTRICT XV MEMBERS - The District XV Debutante and Squire Ball is  July 16, 2011 at the Orak Temple in Michigan City, Indiana (right off I-94 and US 421 - Franklin Street) and the Band is "Take Five" from our last ball and hoping to have the same enjoyment and entertainment from them as before. Debutantes and Squires, please remember your deadline times, it's for our timely manner in getting our book and papers and the certificates, etc.,  in order.
