DISTRICT 13 SEJMIK

Chicago, Illinois - On Sunday October 7, 2007 in the PNA Cafeteria, was the ceremonial convention of District 13, PNA. Over 60 delegates and guests were present to see outgoing Commissioner Stanley Bogobowicz hand over the gavel and records of the district to newly elected Commissioner Zenon Olejniczak.

Welcoming all present, the singing of the American and Polish National anthems was sung by Allison Kramer. Wanda Juda was appointed as secretary for the day in place of absent Anna Wierzbicki, who could not attend due to work commitments.

For all his hard work and effort over the past 8 years, Commissioner Irene Hercik presented Stanley Bogobowicz with a plaque along with a small token of appreciation.

Tradition holds to introduce a Man and Woman of the Year from the District. This year's honor was bestowed upon the outgoing Commissioner Stanley Bogobowicz. The Woman of the Year was Zofia Adamiak, president of Lodge 1820. Both were presented with flowers and a crystal vase.

Delegates had already been chosen to serve on different committees. The report of the Sports and Youth Committee was given by Wanda Juda. Different activities for the children and adults were presented. There is bowling for the children, breakfast with Santa, and Easter party for the children, trying to get members for an adult bowling league, and attempting to set up a miniature golf outing for children. Also meeting for seniors within the district. Some of these activities are to lure non-members to see what the PNA has to offer, and in short to try and sign them up to our organization. The Membership Committee reported that the district is striving to sign up new members and that whatever the sales representatives can get their leads they go and talk to people. It was mentioned that we have among all those signing up new members, 3 individuals who are worth the mention. Those being: Elzbieta Stolarczuk, Ryszard Jadczak, and Stanislawa Rawicka. Award certificates were presented to these sales representatives for their achievement within the last year. Report of the Scholarship Committee gave their report. On the recommendation of the Investment Committee, they had suggested to distribute an amount for scholarships and the scholarship committee would work on the rules and regulations for distributing scholarships.

Guests in attendance included: Vice Presidents Teresa Abick and Paul Odrobina; Secretary Z. John Ordon, Treasurer Marian Grabowski; Directors Arthur Trybek and Cecilia Tomaszkiewicz; Commissioner of District 12 Barbara Wesolowski; Former Directors Joseph Sikora, Charles Komosa, Marian Nowacki and Loretta Chabalowski.

Commissioner Hercik thanked her officers of the Women's Division and for their help and assistance in all the activities that are planned for the District throughout the year. Outgoing Commissioner Stanley Bogobowicz thanked all for the support and participation of the district doings and outings during his tenure in office.

Next on the agenda was election of officers for the next year. Nominated and elected were: Alexandra Brzezinski for treasurer, Katie Golowacz for correspondent secretary, and Jozef Penar as Sgt. at Arms. Vice President Teresa Abick swore in the officers.

A letter from President Frank Spula was read which included why he could not attend the function for business related reasons. He also wished everyone present fruitful deliberations and congratulated and thanked outgoing Commissioner Stanley Bogobowicz for his years of service to the district. Vice President Teresa Abick also spoke and extended her best wishes to Mr. Bogobowicz. Vice President Paul Odrobina congratulated the district for all that they do for the district and with all the best to Mr. Bogobowicz.

Commissioner Zenon Olejniczak expressed his appreciation for those that voted for him and gave him a chance to be the new Commissioner for the next 4 years. He then wished everyone a safe return for the delegates and guests.
