DISTRICT 12 SPONSORS FIRST
JUNIOR BOWLING TOURNAMENT

Orland Park, Illinois - The first annual Junior Bowling Tournament in District 12 took place at the Orland Bowl on Sunday Morning, April 27, 2008. Over twenty children attended the event. Commissioners Barbara Wesolowski and Roman Bucon wanted to get the youth from the District involved with something different than what was sponsored for them presently. They sent out letters to the parents of all children in the lodges and Councils of District 12 to participate in this event.

Parents and grandparents came along to coach and cheer the children. The smaller age groups were allowed to have the bumpers up so the bowling ball would go and knock down pins for them and not in the gutters. They were all assigned lanes which put other children in the same age groups together, where some of them became instant  friends.

Before the children finished their last game, Commissioner Barbara Wesolowski introduced Vice President Paul Odrobina, and PNA Directors Arthur Trybek and Christine Domalewski, both who serve on the PNA Sports and Youth Committee at the Board of Directors meetings. Mr. Odrobina welcomed the children and the families for attending and mentioned that their bowling scores would be sent in to the Natoinal Polonia Junior Bowling Tournament. Each of the children were awarded a medallion with the PNA emblem on it for participating in the tournament, just like if they won a medal in the Olympics. The children finished bowling and then were treated to a pizza party.

At the end of the tournament, the children went home happy, that they made new friends that morning and can't wait to have another bowling party like this again next year. One girl went to thank Commissioner Wesolowski and said she was so thrilled that she won a medal in something, because her older brothers and sisters always won awards and this one was her first.
