DOZIN' WITH
THE DINO'S OVERNIGHT EXPERIENCE
Chicago, Illinois - On Friday, March 4, 2011,
along with my two grandsons, Nicholas Caldarazzo and Andrew
Oskorep, my son Jason, and his nephew Brian, we were with over 912 children and adults
that arrived at the Field Museum in
Downtown Chicago, for their overnight stay with "Dozin' With The
Dino's"
They arrived with sleeping bags and pillows
in hand to find a suitable sleeping place for the night. This
was an event that was put together by the Four Polish Fraternal
Organizations, the Polish National Alliance, Polish Women's
Alliance, Polish Roman Catholic Union, and Polish Falcons. Our
group leader was Sharon Zago, the Vice President of the Polish
Women's Alliance.
The evening began with a workshop based on
the Field Museum exhibition, followed by the screening of
the movie "Sue" the dinosaur. It was very informative for the
children and adults alike. After the movie, the groups met with
the Dinosauria team of Lisa Zago-Martin and Don Pfister, who
allowed the children to hold actual dinosaur bones they were dug
up from their excursion in Wyoming. Many questions were asked to
both Lisa and Don. The children also had an opportunity to hold
a live tarantula, and have their pictures taken with it. After
viewing all the exhibits, a snack was provided by the museum to
each of the guests. We all enjoyed the late night activities,
exploring the Museums wondrous exhibitions, and go inside
Ancient Egypt by flashlight.
At 12:30 a.m., it was lights out. Rise and
shine call came at 7:00 a.m. with breakfast starting 7:30 a.m.
for all. It was time to leave the Museum by 9:00 a.m., but
before that, the group took a picture with "Sue" the dinosaur.
Goodbyes were said and hopes and wishes were said to see each
other again next year. A good time was had by both young and
old.
