DEBUTANTE AND SQUIRES BALL

Orange County, California - On Saturday, March 5, 2011, Polish National Alliance (PNA) District XVI held its Debutantes and Squires Ball at the Pope John Paul II Polish Center in Yorba Linda, California. There were a total of 30 young men and women from PNA Lodges 700, 3118, 3193, and 3259 participating in this event.

The hosts of the event were PNA District XVI Commissioners Ania Karwan and Greg Chilecki who welcomed and introduced guests. PNA Commissioner Ania Karwan opened the ceremonies recalling the words of previous PNA President Edward Moskal, telling the Debutantes and Squires that they were "wanted, needed, and appreciated" members. She encouraged them to continue to be involved in their PNA lodge's activities, to pursue their hobbies and interests and to share them with the PNA community. PNA Commissioner Greg Chilecki next spoke welcoming everyone to this evening in honor of our young people and how proud we all are of how many were participating and representing the PNA. The National Anthems was led by Debutante Asia Lojewska, followed by an Invocation by Rev. Henry Noga, Director of the Pope John Paul II Polish Center.

Honored guest Marian Grabowski, the PNA's National Treasurer, read greetings from Frank J. Spula, President of the Polish National Alliance of the United States of North America. President Spula's greetings congratulated PNA Commissioners Chilecki and Karwan and the event's committee for arranging this PNA Debuatantes and Squires Ball, and address participants stating "you are the Ambassadors of our community, we are delighted to have such members as you being part of the fraternal family... I hope this evening will be one that will last a lifetime and may it be a beginning of mastering your destiny." PNA Director of Region "K" Anthony Nowak-Przygodzki also greeted and congratulated the young people participating in the event. Entertainment was then provided by Polanie Polish Folk Dancers who performed Polonez-Mazur, a Beskid-śląski suite, and a lively American Rock 'n' Roll dance.

The high point of the evening was the presentation of each of the Debutantes and Squires by PNA Commissioners Ania Karwan and Greg Chilecki.

The Debutantes and Squires were: Emilia Borkowski, Karolina Dudek, Joanna Hrabia, Alesander Jelowicki, Aneta Jelowicki, Jonathan Olejarczyk, Pamela Pyrzynski, Simona Romuzga, Stasia Widerynska, Katherine Zdarzyl, Katherine Coats, Christina Kogat, Leanna Schafferm Brian Tracy, Lisa Tracy, Aleksandra Antoszewski, Claudia Paulina Bogucki, Anna Bubienko, Dominik Dobrowolski, Daniel Domagala, Christopher Grzelecki, Arkadiusz Halaj, Marek Halaj, Evan Inglis, Stephanie Ann Iwan, Joanna Klaudia Lojewska, Anna Mierzwa, Daniel Mika, Ewelina Musial, Peter Swiatkowski, Kacpar Turek and Klaudia Zadlo.

Each Debutante and Squire were elegantly dressed, ladies wore white gowns, and the gentlemen wore tuxedos or formal black suits. The Debutantes and Squires entered into the room with their parents as their names were announced, including the announcement of the name of the parent(s), city, and PNA lodge and council. Upon arriving in the center of the ballroom, a red rose was presented to each Debutante by Alex F. Iwan, and a white rose was presented to each Squire by Aleksandra Kmak.

Marian Grabowski, the PNA's National Treasurer addressed the Debutantes and Squires : "We are so proud of you all; young women and young men being presented by their fathers, mothers and other relatives to show their appreciation for keeping Polish traditions alive and strong. As Treasurer of the Polish National Alliance, it is my pleasure to extend warmest greetings to everyone attending the PNA District XVI Debutantes and Squires Ball. Last but not least I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Debutantes and Squires for their participation in todays event, we thank you for all your good work, congratulate you and celebrate with you." With all the Debutantes and Squires gathered together in the center of the ballroom, Mr. Grabowski gave each Debutante and Squire a check from the Polish National Alliance. Commissioners Ania Karwan and Greg Chilecki presented to each Debutante and Squire a gift from the Consul General of the Republic of Poland, a book with CD entitiled Celebrating Chopin & Paderewski by author Marek Zebrowski. Mr. Grabowski then did the honors  of selecting by drawing the Debutante and Squire Representatives for PNA District XVI who will attend the PNA's Quadrennial  Convention on August 17-21 in Minneapolis, Minnesota: Joanna Klaudia "Asia" Lojewska and Daniel Domagala, both from PNA "Piast" Lodge 3259.

A keepsake Program Book was designed and organized by Alicja Chilecki. Teresa Turek prepared the delicious entrees for the event. The evening's classic dinner music was provided by Emil Struhar and later in the evening dancing music was provided by DJ Lukasz Globisz. The Debutantes and Squires had an enjoyable evening, and wonderful memories to share with their friends and family.
