45TH PNA CONVENTION FIRST SESSION -
THURSDAY, AUGUST 23, 2007

Jersey City, New Jersey - The first day of the PNA 45th National Convention on Thursday morning was officially opened by the PNA Censor Hilary S. Czaplicki.

Eileen Fulton, the chairperson of the Credential Committee reported that there were 242 delegates that registered by the time the session started. The delegation was sworn in by Mr. Czaplicki.

Welcome wishes and greetings were given by leaders of the other Polish Fraternal Societies. Mrs. Virginia Sikora, President of the Polish Women's Alliance, Wallace Ozog, President of the Polish Roman Catholic Union, Mrs. Christine McMullen President of the PNA of Brooklyn (who are now a part of our family), Mr. Wallace Zielinski of the Polish Falcons and Mr. Ludwik Wnekowicz President of the Polish American Congress in New Jersey all sent their best to a prosperous convention. 

A temporary board was chosen to act as the convention board. Nominations of the Convention Chairman had Frank J. Spula voted in as the Chairman edging out Mr. John Mailloux.

The elected convention board were voted in as folllows:

CHAIRMAN - Frank J. Spula
1st VICE CHAIRMAN - Cecelia Tomaszkiewicz
2nd VICE CHAIRMAN - Richard Jablonski
3rd VICE CHAIRMAN - Teresa Struziak-Sherman
CONVENTION SECRETARY - Tersa Jankowski
SERGEANT AT ARMS - Todd Bushman
DOOR KEEPER - Walter Piekarczyk
PARLIMENTARIAN - Steve Tokarski

The assistants to the secretary, sergeant at arms and other Committees were named later during the first day session.

Chairman Spula was honored to announce that four members were named as Honorary Delegates. Bestowing the honors were former National Secretary Lottie S. Kubiak, out going National Treasurer Casimir Musielak, out going Censor Hilary S. Czaplicki and former National Director Jean Kozmor. Mrs. Kozmor was given her honor at the Friday Session.

The Membership Committee report was presented . Acting Sales Director Joseph Magielski Sr. announced the winners of the Membership contest. President Club Winners included: Anna Burszczyk, Krystyna Bystrowski, Jadwiga Grcic, Joseph Magielski Sr., Walter Noga, Zofia Pernak, Elizabeth Rudzinski, Teresa Struziak-Sherman, Elizabeth Stolarczuk, and JoanneYgeal. Honors Club winners include: John Birus, Ralph Bodziony, Czeslawa Buczkowski, Ann Marie Gdula, Anna Jasionowski, George Kielak, Henry Kotarba, Halina Kuczynski, Victoria Leo, Urszula Lewandowski, Josephine May, Lisa Mendel, Lee Ann Noga, Paul Odrobina, Z. John Ordon, Ewa Przadka, Wanda Penar, Hedy Rabiega, Stanislawa Rawicki, Joseph Samreta, Sandra Schuster, Slawek Skorupski, Edward Solecki, Thomas Stephenson, Joseph Szczech, Janice Theroux, Jeffrey Twardy, Richard Tyszkiewicz, Marian Wiercioch, Tomasz Wyszynski, and Bernadette Zubel. The winners were presented awards from Mr. Magielski.

In the evening, the delegates had a chance to meet the candidates running for Commissioner in their District. The gathering was held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Liberty Room on the same level floor where the Convention was held.
